Gloucester Rugby will be taking six coaching sessions with Y7 & Y8 pupils every week from 5th November-17th December.
Year 7: Tuesday Afternoons
Year 8: Tuesday Mornings
Rationale: Gloucester rugby currently only run an EDF Cup for boys as there has been a lack of Girls teams to run an EDF Cup for girls. Therefore, this scheme of work aims to inspire girls to play rugby at a competitive level, and to support leadership skills at the same time.
There is a strong focus on the core principles of rugby: Go Forwards, Support, Continuity, Contest and Maintain Possession and Exert Pressure.
This programme is ideally placed in lesson time to increase girls’ rugby participation and create a girl’s school team to play competitive rugby against other schools.
