Monday 29th April 2019
Due to generous support form Renishaw, a leading additive manufacturing (3D printing) international company, the school was selected by for a free BLOODHOUND Education workshop day on Monday 29th April.
The workshop was aimed at year 7, 8 and 9 pupils and delivered in 1 hour workshops throughout the day, giving students an opportunity to explore technology and complete an engineering challenge.
Year 7 and 8 started with a presentation about additive manufacturing, watched a 3D printer at work and were then challenged to build their own bloodhound and test them to see which was the fastest.
Year 9 explored computational fluid dynamics and built models with K'nex.
We also had an inspiring assembly about the need for more girls in engineering roles, by Rebecca Bound from Renishaw.
