History

Over the past few years, we have broadened the curriculum to provide pupils with an opportunity to develop their creative skills. Our partnership with Barnwood Park Art’s College has grown from strength to strength with Art now extended as a GCSE subject. (Depending on ability, pupils are chosen to do either Citizenship or Art from Year 9).

On the subject of Physical development, in addition to weekly PE lessons, we have started to make greater use of our local leisure centre, ‘GL1. Five-a-side football tournaments are organised during the year.

The school is also a member of the National Literacy Trust; a national initiative to enhance literacy by promoting a whole-school reading culture. We have an appointed Key Stage Literacy Coordinator to promote more reading among our pupils and a book club takes place during the lunch hour. We hope this initiative will help to boost standards of literacy.

The school also provides cookery classes as an extra-curricular activity on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. Pupils have thoroughly enjoyed these sessions and produced some mouth-watering recipes!

Our Islamiat Curriculum covers a broad range of Islamic subjects using the latest textbooks in English taught by qualified Aalimaas. (Female scholars). It is hoped that five years of extensive study of various Islamic sciences will give our students confidence and sound understanding of Islam, Insha-Allah.

Together with formal teaching, assemblies are used to build strong Islamic foundations, develop positive Islamic thoughts, respect for authority and a deep sense of love for Islam as a complete way of life.

The school also strives to provide a warm and caring atmosphere for all students, irrespective of their cultural background so that our students appreciate the universal aspect of Islam. The school has an anti-bullying policy and bullying in all its forms is taken very seriously. We aim to deliver all education in stimulating and challenging ways, settings tasks and goals that are achievable to all. Insha Allah, we intend to acknowledge and actively encourage all abilities within the school. Our target is to continuously assess and positively reward the effort and progress made by our pupils.

We have high expectations of our pupils not only in academic excellence but also in standards of behaviour and character, both inside and outside school. This was also noted by the Inspector and praised in our Ofsted report. We hope to equip our pupils with skills to confidently accept the challenges of today’s changing world.

Finally, parents are reminded of the need to provide a good Islamic environment at home and become good Muslim role models for their children. This will make the school’s task much easier, Insha-Allah. We also value parental feedback and suggestions, as this is how we can improve our services.

May Allah (SWT) grant your daughter many enjoyable and productive years at our school.

O our Lord! Bestow us the coolness of our eyes from our spouses and our children and make us leaders of the pious. (Holy Qur’an, Surah Al-Furqaan – 25:74)
